Join Winding Path

Winding Path Psychotherapy is a mental health clinic that emphasizes body-centered mental health treatment, including somatic psychotherapy and ketamine assisted psychotherapy. We provide cutting-edge treatment with an emphasis on quality vs. quantity. We are a boutique clinic in that we offer personalized, focused, customized attention. We don’t use protocols so we can attend to the mind, body and psychospiritual as dictated by each person’s need. We work as a team to create a customized healing plan for each client.

Winding Path Psychotherapy is looking for a Billing and Credentialing Specialist. This position plays a critical role in supporting the financial and operational health of the practice by managing insurance billing, collections, and provider credentialing activities. This position is responsible for full-cycle revenue management, including claim submission, payment posting, and denial resolution, as well as overseeing provider enrollment and ongoing credentialing with insurance payers. This role requires a high level of accuracy, accountability, and the ability to independently manage processes while collaborating with clinicians, colleagues and the administrative team.

This is an evolving role with significant opportunities for growth. The position is initially part-time and may begin with as few as 5 hours per week, with the expectation that both hours and responsibilities will increase as the clinic grows and the successful candidate develops expertise in the role. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys identifying opportunities, creating solutions, and taking ownership of their work. Rather than stepping into a narrowly defined role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape and expand the position, develop new processes and services, and contribute to the growth of both the clinic and the role itself. Ideal candidates are individuals who are energized by building, innovating, and making a meaningful impact within a growing organization.

  • Lead provider credentialing and recredentialing processes with commercial and government payers, ensuring timely enrollment and continued network participation

  • Track and manage credentialing timelines, proactively addressing risks to prevent lapses in provider eligibility or reimbursement

  • Act as the primary point of contact with payers for both billing and credentialing escalations, resolving complex issues and maintaining strong working relationships

  • Serve as a billing and accounts point of contact for clients

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, payer contracts, and HIPAA requirements; stay current on changes impacting billing and credentialing practices

  • Partner with Clinic Director to identify process improvements, streamline workflows, and enhance overall revenue cycle efficiency

  • Support onboarding of new providers by coordinating credentialing, payer enrollment, and billing setup

  • Assist with internal audits, reporting, and training of staff on billing and credentialing best practices

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned or removed at any time.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in medical billing and credentialing required, preferably in behavioral health or a related healthcare setting

  • Proven experience with provider credentialing and payer enrollment (commercial and government payers such as Wisconsin Medicaid)

  • Experience working with Quartz, Dean and CCS

  • Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and behavioral health billing guidelines

  • Experience using electronic health records (EHR) and practice management/billing systems, such as Simple Practice (SP)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for reporting and data tracking

  • Familiarity with payer contracts, reimbursement structures, and compliance requirements

  • Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentials are preferred
