Erica Lancaster (she/her)
MA, LPC
Erica is a licensed professional counselor with many years of experience supporting adults through complex trauma, anxiety, burnout, grief, life transitions, and the questions of identity and self-worth that often accompany them. She has worked across a range of settings and brings the depth of that experience at Winding Path Psychotherapy.
Erica earned her Master's degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Wilderness Therapy from Naropa University in Boulder, CO. Her approach is warm, relational, and deeply somatic. She draws on Somatic
Experiencing, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and attachment-based practices to help clients build a different relationship with their nervous systems- one that feels less like an adversary and more like an ally.
Erica has a particular specialty in supporting people who spend their lives holding space for others- caregivers of neurodiverse and medically complex children, parents navigating the emotional weight of complex family systems, and those in helping and healing professions such as therapists, nurses, teachers, and social workers. These are people who are often deeply skilled at tending to everyone around them, yet rarely turn that same care inward. She understands the particular exhaustion, compassion fatigue, grief, and resilience that lives in those roles, and offers a space where helpers can finally be the one who is held.
She believes that your nervous system learned to do what it did for very good reasons and that with the right support, something in you already knows the way toward healing. Erica tailors each therapeutic experience to her clients' unique needs, honoring the pace and path of each individual journey.
Nature is woven throughout Erica's work- through metaphor, mindfulness, and the simple reminder that you are part of something larger than whatever is weighing on you right now. She offers both in-person sessions at Winding Path's Madison office and walk-and-talk therapy outdoors.
Erica is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for all clients. She practices from a trauma-informed and healing-centered lens, welcoming individuals of all identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences.
